Enabling SSL Certificate on your website Print

  • 0

With BlueberryCMS, you never have to worry about SSL Certificates ever again! You can add an SSL Certificate FOR FREE to any Site Domain you add in BlueberryCMS. Certificates are provided by LetsEncrypt and renewals are handled automatically.

SSL certificates are a requirement for website these days. All modern web browsers default to using the HTTPS prefix and will only fallback to a non-secure method if no other secure method is available. For that reason, all sites added to BlueberryCMS will always have an SSL certificate no matter what. Non-secure HTTP requests are still available when used explicitly and the Forward HTTP to HTTPS option is not selected.

  1. The CNAME DNS record for your Site Domain needs to be setup before you can add SSL support. See DNS Records for Website and Email Hosting for more information.
  2. Add your Site Domain as described in the Site Domains Overview - Map your domain to BlueberryCMS article and click Save. The options for using SSL will not be available until the Site Domain has been saved first.
  3. Edit the Site Domain and select the options for Use SSL and Forward HTTP to HTTPS to always ensure your users are connected via HTTPS. A popup notice will let you know if your DNS is setup correctly. Click Save.

  4. After saving you domain, click the "Publish" button.
  5. SSL Certificates are usually provisioned within about 5 minutes. As long as your Web Pages have been published, you should be able to access the HTTPS version of your website.
