Setting up email clients like Outlook, Apple Mail, and Thunderbird Print

  • 1

There's only a few basic pieces of information needed to setup most email clients like Outlook, and the Mail app for iPhones and Androids, or any other type of client out there.

Here's what you need to know.

  1. You will be setting up an IMAP account on your device. This often requires the manual setup of your account.
  2. You will need to enter the FULL email address as your username
  3. Your email server is: mail.b.hostedemail.com
  4. Here's some additional information your mail client might ask for:
    • Incoming Port: 993 with SSL (Recommended)
You can also use Port 143 (Non-SSL) for legacy systems.
    • Outgoing Port: 465 with SSL (Recommended)
You can also use Ports 25 and 587 for Non-SSL legacy systems.
    • Authentication: SSL (Recommended)
STARTTLS and PLAIN are also supported for non-SSL legacy systems.

Autodiscover / Autoconfiguration

Some devices can automatically fetch your email account settings for you simply by typing in your email address and password. In order for that to work correctly, you'll need to ensure you've setup the optional SRV DNS records for your domain. See our DNS Records for Website and Email Hosting article for more information.
